My family camped here for 3 nights. We hiked to each of the 3 natural bridges in the park: Sipapu, Kachina, and Owachomo. “Sipapu” is a Hopi word for “emergence”. The Hopi descended from their Puebloan ancestors whom occupied the four corners area of the United States (where Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico meet) between 700 C.E. to 1270 A.D. The idea of the bridges being a portal for the soul leaving and entering this world is the inspiration for this painting.
